Juan Jose (J.J) has made a name for himself

in the Digital & Telecom industries, working along leading organizations around the world to bring technology and innovation to market. An INSEAD MBA, Masters in Project Management from La Salle and Industrial Civil Engineer from Adolfo Ibanez, Juan Jose has developed his career around Innovation, Ventures, International and Market Expansion Strategies, Product Development, M&A, and Digital Ecosystems.

J.J started his career as an entrepreneur,

when still at college he founded iEducation Holdings; an e-learning online company raising a total capital of US$ 1.5M. After successfully growing the company and positioning it as the first Chilean e-learning portal, Juan Jose exited and joined Telia-Sonera in Europe to manage the Data and VAS Services on the launch of the company in Spain.

After an exciting period with Telia-Sonera, J.J. continued his international career at COMsciences Worldwide, a premier consulting boutique specialized in Products & Services Innovation, where Juan Jose supported leading Asian, European and American Telecom and Consumer Electronics clients in developing innovative products and services.

In January 2007

he founded SCM-medialabs, a digital media interactive agency centered in 360 degrees marketing campaigns. At SCM, Juan Jose engaged and supported premium clients, including Coca-Cola, Vodafone, Orange, Telefonica, EFE and P&G.

After successfully trading SCM-medialabs, Juan Jose joined Booz & Company in Dubai, from where he advised Telecom and Media clients on Innovation, International Expansion and Market Growth Strategies, with particular focus on emerging markets strategies (Africa and Middle East).

In 2009

J.J joined Etisalat Group as Group Strategy & Planning Director, where he was responsible for advising on strategy & planning Etisalat’s 10 operating companies in Africa. Later, Juan Jose became Vice President Marketing Strategy for Etisalat UAE, Etisalat largest market, where he managed the overall consumer portfolio,

Juan Jose’s career has taken him to four continents and more than 20 countries.

He has authored several articles in Telecom, Media, International Strategy and Innovation, and been an invited speaker to more than 50 international conferences including 3GSM, 3GWorld, UTMSForum and 3GSM Americas. J.J is also an Associate Researcher and Author at INSEAD.

Currently, Juan Jose de la Torre is IBM's Digital Transformation Leader for Middle East and Africa. From this position JJ supports IBM's clients in their journey towards embracing digital technologies helping them to build new relations and experiences with their customers.

In his free time,

J.J enjoys travelling and adventure sports. He is also a music composer, a former professional DJ and now music producer, JJ is also a certified PADI diving instructor professional. He currently lives in Dubai.
